EXPANDED WRITER’S COMMENTARY ON JOE C’s BLOG. joecashman.typepad.com.
JOE C: For you, dear Reader, it’s been more than a year. But Diva was assaulted yesterday. This was a tough page for us. Having received a lot of criticism over getting too heavy with our subject matter, we thought long and hard about what should be on this first page and what kind of controversy it might draw. In the end we decided that we’d have to finish this story before we moved on. Over a hundred female assault victims surveyed: The first thing they wanted to do after the event was (almost unanimously) wash it off. How to tell that story visually without getting too morose or sexual with a (albeit cartoon) teenage girl was the subject of much discussion. It was important for us to capture the emotional vulnerability of the moment while maintaining the bounds of good taste.
This page is the result of another collaboration with our new partners. Special thanks to Jason Canty, Angry Viking Press and Guest Artist Rod Espinosa. Pete and I believe again and it’s all thanks to you.
Pete: Regarding updates, I usually update at 10am. Sometime it takes me a few extra minutes, like today. Rest assured I will do everything in my power to make sure we are up by 11am at the absolute latest. Thanks for your patience.

After a year, we decided to reset our comments section. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself awaiting moderation, even if you’re a veteran Diva fanatic. Please remember to practice the three C’s in there:
1. Keep it Civil.
2. Keep it Constructive.
3. Keep it Clean.

I like the style. Not as cute as Cassandra’s one, but far more accurate and good-looking then the previous.

The change in the drawing style is striking yet again, but it’s not that bad. Nice pacing and layout in all :)

I like this style better than the last one. I can’t wait to see where this story goes, especially with the wand now speaking

I mean this as a compliment: it looks like stills from a cartoon; very cool and different. It amazes me how many different artists have drawn Diva and yet she still looks like the same girl. Side question: are we supposed to pull something more overtly sexual out of what was shown in Issue 10 based on her response here?

Interesting style. I liked the older styles better though. Still gonna read this webcomic though. Love the ED universe :D

I also like the new style. It’s more believable if that makes sense. It’s not such a jarring/dramatic shift from little girl Diva to teenage Diva. I think that was one of the major issues I had with the prior art style. In the new style you can still see shades of little girl Diva. I also agree that it would be unfair to simply drop the prior storyline as if it’d never happened, however, I hope that Team Diva will move her gently away from it.

I wonder if Evil Diva will one day become as big as Wonder Woman or Red Sonja.
