Intern Comics 3

Bwah! I think this one was written by everyone in the office, and you can imagine that it was slightly … less G-rated in our conferences.

SO! Some things to look forward to! In handy list format:

1) We’re pretty sure next Monday will mark the first page of issue three. I’ve gotten close to ten pages thumbnailed at this point (about halfway through Joe’s script; this one will definitely be shorter) and … I still need to come up with a cover. DETAILS.

2) (R)OMA: Dante should wrap up on Friday. It’s been really fun, and I have at least two more planned, including Muffins’ origin story. :D

3) We should be posting a tiling Victorian-style background by Jayd at some point this week.

4) … Duuuur, hur hur. Dur.

See you on Friday! I dunno about y’all, but I’m really psyched for issue three.

evil diva vote

Cuuuuute incentive today.

Awkwaaaaaaaaaaaard… yet it actually makes sense in a patriarchal society.

And as to your not-quite-G-rated conversations, do I want to know?

  2. Kamu Nappy

OH, I can totally picture Mr Virgil’s face in the last panel >D

    Priceless.

Hey! I liked this one. It was a great filler, and it shows that yes, there are moments in life that are awkward, and why should comic world’s be any different. I like the artistic stylings here, where we only see the wand (I love what you did with the wand) and we have to imagine the setting. To me, this page was like an impromptu jazz-jam by expert musicians in the middle of their “for the record label corporate set” (meaning no offense to ED and all that it entails. Not to worry, your “G” rating is safe. Anyone who is afraid that “some day” people grow up and learn about “things” is seriously detached from reality, where people learn about “things” long before “someday.” This was a good sidebar. And the black and white feel really added to the minimalist art message.

It may not play well with some fans who are used to full color sugary ED comics where the most salient points of discussion are how much of an evil villain Angela is, or how hot the new guy is, but I say this not to insult anyone at all. Merely to acknowledge that this page has a Frank Zappa feel to it, a cutting-edge experimental feel that belies the simplicity of this comic and reveals more of the brains behind it.

Bravisimo! Bring on the next pages!

    Pfffft. XD

Very cute filler, btw. Can’t wait for Friday! :3

  5. Crispy Crunch

I’d like to see Mr.Virgil going with a speech about flower and bees.
    Or snakes and tunnels.
    Disturbing, not quite.

(~~so sorry if there is any mistake or mispelling, I’m french ;D)

Are you guys familiar with Dr. Horrible? This strip reminds me of when Captain Hammer makes a joke and clarifies: “I’M TALKING ABOUT MY PENIS.” Good laughs! If you haven’t seen it, please do check it out. Diva’s parents would most certainly approve! ^^

Oh gosh, this made me laugh so hard. xD

I love the perspective. Makes you imagine for yourself what the characters’ expressions are.

  8. Kushy

    Freakin’ hilarious.

    Is that true? XDD

(The thing about the Washington Memorial and the Obelisk… that’s totally true. XD It’s not IMMATURE. IT’S TRUEEEEEE. XD)

  9. OMGSoEasy

“…To further your educational experience, maybe I should demonstrate? Behold the magic of my long and powerful staff!”

*Virgil unzips and then gets jailed for harrassment =( *

  10. Dusty

By the way… I am really loving the sketch. I can totally see Cerby happily torturing the kat with unwanted affection (forgive me for forgetting his name). THAT would make a good page.

  11. Katay

… is that wand fact true…?

  12. BluPickles

    LOL WUUUUUUUUUUT? XD

  13. BluPickles

    Oh good lord.
    BAD mental images.

  14. Brinson

I doubt it! I think Jayd may have made that one up for our amusment. ;)

  15. Brinson

    Hahahahahaha!

    I had initially suggested “I could get arrested for elaborating on that”, but we thought that might be a bit … overboard. ^^;

  16. Evil Ataru

    Great comic! XD Virgilio rules.

  17. lilith

    That was… just…. I…

You’re a genius, and I’ve just spilled tea on my keyboard.
    … through my NOSE.
    It was worth it.

  18. erichan

OH HO HO! Oh Diva, you’ll figure it out sooner or later… ;)

  19. Abeo

Interesting that this specific wand ends in a head of sorts, eh?

  20. Mel. Star.

Awesome. This comic never ceases to make me smile ^^; By the by, Evil Diva is SO CLOSE to being in the top 10! Congrats, and I hope everyone is still voting! I know I am.

  21. Mandi

BWAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Thats slightly less crude than the various comments my freinds and I make on a daily basis. We ARE in middle school after all. although 24 hours from now… SHCOOL WILL BE OUT!!!! WE WILL BE DONE WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL FOREVER!!!! PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTAY!!!

  22. Firewolf2007

    wand looks scary

  23. MrGBH

Oh Virgil, despite your years of experience, you still walked straight into that one.

  24. Dusty

    Nicely put

  25. Dusty

(ahem…) As an authority on metaphysics (and I really hate pulling out THAT card–so I am apologizing up front), the wand THE primary phallus, or aggressive extension of one’s will (it is not surprise that you point with it). It is NEVER used for stirring, or hammering things (gods forbid!), or writing, in the same way one would never think of hammering… well the point being that the utility knife and athame (ceremonial one) might also be confused with er… masculine magical extensions, the wand is really where it is at. The prime feminine aspects of magic are cups, bowls, chalices (fancy cups), circles, the sky, divination, pretty much everything but that showboating wand. But you do wave it at things and people, which is an act of aggression. Go figure. Jayd is on to something.

  26. Kushy

Wow. XD Thank you. *writes notes* =w=~<3

  27. Octopusrave

    Makes perfect sense, really.

  28. wynne

I love how frustrated the wand is in the last panel.

  29. Avrelia

What the hell does that have to do with Metaphysics? Metaphysics is a scientific and philosophical branch of thought which focuses around the space, time, causality…possibility… existence in its entirety. Moreover, calling yourself an authority on Metaphysics is pretty much a) horrifically arrogant and b) a bit of an oxymoron. And it has -nothing- to do with whatever you were just blabbering about! So, sorry, Dusty, but I call bs on that.

The relationship between masculine attributes and feminine and certain magic or occult arts, such as wands etc, is long established and found in many cultures, schools of thought and mythologies. A short trip to google and some careful wording should answer any questions anyone might have…
